Even if you’re someone who does all their work online, print materials still have their place for marketing your business. The great thing about print materials is that they last a lot longer. Someone might only see a digital advert for a split second, whereas something like a business card or a brochure can hang around for months. People pick them up and play with them, read them when they’re bored or waiting for something, and keep them hanging around their home or business.
But if they’re not very exciting, people might not be interested. So how do you make your print materials special?
Make Them High-tech
One idea is to connect your print materials to technology. If you feel like print marketing is a bit old-fashioned, you can update them a bit. For example, one option is to have business cards that have NFC chips built into them. This means that people can tap your business card to their phone, and it will automatically open a link to a website or app.
You can control what the chip links to from a personal account, and check how many people have tapped your cards too. Another option could be to include a QR code that can be scanned.
Choose Foldable Materials
For a slightly more low-tech but still fun way to make your print materials interesting, try some different ways of folding them. One example is the alpha card, which allows you to fold a flyer into a pocket-sized card. There are also infinity cards, which are a lot of fun to play with. They fold infinitely in different directions, so you can keep turning and flipping them.
People will pick them up and fiddle with them, looking at the images and words you’ve chosen to print on them. Anything that keeps someone’s attention is great for increasing engagement.
Add a Special Touch
Sometimes, all it takes is something small to show people that you’ve put some thought into how to present your print materials. There are several things that can elevate a normal business card or brochure to make something special.
Consider using digital foil, embossing, debossing (the opposite of embossing), laser cutting or spot UV to add an extra visual or tactile touch to your materials. These things immediately make your print items more sophisticated and memorable.
Know How to Use Your Materials
It’s not just what your print materials look like, but also how you use them. Knowing when and who to give them to for the most impact is an important part of print marketing. Giving out business cards at networking events might work for some.
If you’re a wedding photographer, you might leave a brochure in the venue where you have just carried out a job. Sometimes, mailing print materials can have the most impact. You need to know how you can make the best use of your print materials.
Digital marketing might be taking over, but print marketing is still important. Think about how you can use it to increase business.
