You should always be going from one marketing technique to another. The more time and effort that you spend on the marketing side of things for your company, the more you’re going to be able to get out of it. But, without the proper knowledge and guidance, you’re not going to be able to get the results that you ultimately want. Due to the lack of knowledge that you probably have about marketing, we can almost guarantee that all of your campaigns are outsourced. This is fine, it’s obviously better to leave things to the experts, and focus your efforts on the parts of running a business that you can actually control.
But, how much do you actually know about marketing, and are you sure that the money you’re investing in your outsourced marketing ventures, is money well spent. Because there are some techniques, and some companies out there, who would happily do more damage to your business than good, if it mean that they were receiving your money. Marketing is a dangerous and wasteful game if it’s not done right. There’s so many different unspoken rules to follow to make sure you’re keeping the public happy, and to keep the cash being injected back into your business from your marketing efforts flowing.
So, we want to show you what marketing techniques you should be going to and from, the risks of marketing, and how you can boost your campaigns to hopefully make the most money. Have a read on to find out more.
Strong Marketing Techniques
There are some really strong marketing techniques out there that we think you should be having a play around with. The more time you spend focusing on the stronger techniques, the more money you’re going to be able to bring into your business. Well, that is of course if you do it right.
If there’s one thing so many companies seem to be be bad at, it’s the fact that their marketing techniques are strong, but the campaigns they’re running through them are just so poor. However, want to try and get you to avoid that, so here’s two strong marketing campaigns, and how you can produce strong campaigns to run through them.
SEO
SEO is one of the most well known marketing techniques in the world. It has both a good reputation, and a bad one. But your perception on SEO all depends on how you’re actually going to use it.
If you use it right, and use it for long enough, you will generate a natural backlink profile, which will boost your rankings in Google. But you have to remember, some big companies out there are going to be using the same technique as you, so keeping your efforts up with this one is essential. Think of it as a mini race to get to the top, and a marathon to actually stay at the top.
A SEO company should be who you contact to get the ball rolling with this one. They’ll be able to talk you through the strategies they use, and how they could benefit your business. But, like with anything in life, you need to have a rough idea of what you’re about to head into, before you actually head into it.
Getting yourself some background knowledge into how SEO works could really benefit you. Always make sure that you’re doing a reputation check on the company to make sure that they have success stories to fall back on. Some new SEO companies might not have the best reputation, and some well established companies might be just as bad. There’s not much you can do to try and create a solid campaign here, the company does the most of it for you.
All you need to do is make sure you have an attractive website ready for customers to view. If the technique that’s being used for you is link building, make sure that the content your links are being put into are fresh, and will help to generate a lot of traffic. It’s so easy for an SEO campaign to ruin a business if the content is spammy. In fact, if you have too many links built through these spammy websites and posts, you can actually get your business banned.
TV Advertising
Again, one of the more longer standing marketing techniques. TV advertising has been around since TV’s were created. People have always been hooked at what’s on a TV, and nothing is going to change about that anytime soon. In fact, people’s addiction to sitting in front of the TV only seems to be getting worse, so now is your time to strike with a campaign like this.
The thing with this technique is, you’ll find it’s a lot more costly than one like SEO, and you run the risk of creating a boring advert that no one will pay attention to, or an annoying advert that everyone will absolutely hate.
You need to find a way to get it just right, and to do that, you have to know your audience. People want to see something cute, or something amazing, rather than an annoying jingle. If you’re putting your own song over the top of your advert, you do run the risk of people turning the TV off as soon as you advert comes on.
So, stick to using animals or crazy views and experiences to draw people in. You’re far more likely to get people hooked, and keep them hooked. Then, it’s about subtly promoting your product in a short space of time. Adverts don’t run for more than 45 seconds, so the impact you need to make is quick and sharp. Get yourself a good TV advertising company who will carry you through the process. There’s going to be a lot of people involved with this one, but you should get plenty of profit from it.
Weaker Marketing Techniques
There’s just one weaker marketing technique that we want to talk about today, because it can be taken as either weak, or very very strong. And that’s social media. If you have kids, friends, family, or even just look at yourself, and think about how much time you spend on social media.
At first, you might be a bit in denial. But we know that you’re going to be glued to your phone come bedtime, and we know most of your family will be just the same. So you see, the potential to get noticed on social media is huge, but your ability to get noticed might not be.
All you need to do is get all of the social media accounts, and create an interesting profile. Do your research into the times you should post, the content you should post, and the hashtags that you should use. However, because of the sheer volume of people on social media, and the volume of people you might be trying to reach, it’s not always possible to get your posts noticed. As quick as you post one, another comes and pushes it out the way.
So, make use of sponsored content through the platforms. All of them offer it for a fee, and it will allow your post to remain in people’s eyesight for a certain amount of time. Other than this, it’s all about building up a good reputation and following, and you should be able to get the attention you need from it.
When To Know If Money Is Being Wasted
Well, it should be pretty obvious. You’ll know if your money is being wasted if you aren’t seeing the results. If you’re putting $2000 into a marketing campaign, and you’re seeing your profits drop, then not only is your campaign not working, but something is seriously going wrong with your business.
Always monitor your cash flow, and estimate what percentage of profit you wish to make from your campaign. If you’re not even coming close, then you definitely need to consider whether the campaign you’re using is strong, or whether perhaps you’re using a bit of a weak campaign. You’ll also know if money is being wasted if the campaign physically looks rubbish.
For example, if you’ve got someone working your social media accounts, and you’re barely even scraping a like on their posts, then you’re definitely using a company that isn’t right for you.
Dodging Bad Campaigns
It’s easy to dodge a bad campaign if you always have an overview of what’s going on. Although you might not be able to understand the workings of some of them, you should still be able to see if your business is being shown in a good light. As we’ve said, always splash the cash on the marketing companies who might be charging you more if you know you’re going to get a good service. The money should always come back to you in profit.
So, whilst marketing is a tricky thing to understand, we hope we have shown some of the techniques to you, and shown you how to use them effectively.
